Days 1 - 3: Beehive Huts, Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary
Mlilwane is Eswatini's oldest protected area and gave birth to the concept of nature conservation in the Kingdom. The reserve has an abundant bird life and animals such as crocodile, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, nyala, impala and warthog. Here you can walk amongst wildlife, at your own pace along the well-marked paths. There are no Big Five here, seeing wildlife whilst on foot is a truly special experience.
Days 4 - 5: Mhlumeni Bush Camp
Mhlumeni Bush Camp is situated on a gently undulating plateau overlooking the dramatic Mhlabashana gorge. The magnificent sunset vistas of the Eswatini lowveld towards Mlawula are wonderful. Bound on the three sides by the Mlawula Nature Reserve, the area has outstanding hiking. Nature and cultural walks offered to guests by trained community guides. Learn about the endemic plants of the Lubombo and medicinal uses by the Sangoma (traditional healer). This is a genuine community visit and all proceeds goes back into the community.
Days 6 - 7: Hlane Royal National Park
In the vast bushveld expanse of eastern Eswatini where the hot, still sun of Africa beats on the dry but life-giving soils lies Eswatini’s largest protected area, Hlane Royal National Park. Hlane is home to the largest herds of game in the Kingdom and at night you go to sleep listening to the rumbling roars of lion. Hlane offers fantastic sightings of white rhino, you might even see these magnificent beasts on foot. Visit a nearby local community to see artisans at work.
Days 8 - 9: Mbuluzi Game Reserve
Mbuluzi Game Reserve is a bushveld paradise in the north eastern lowveld of Eswatini. Named after the majestic Mbuluzi River, the reserve lies in the foothills of the Lubombo Mountains forming part of the 60,000 hectare Lubombo Conservancy. It is beautiful driving around Mbuluzi. You can stop any time, get out of your vehicle and walk if you want to. One of the main attractions are the giraffes, the largest herds found in the kingdom. It’s possible to walk within these herds without disturbing them; getting up close to these magnificent animals on foot is certainly something to remember.
Days 10 - 11: Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge
Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge is nestled in the dramatic mountain landscape of north-west Eswatini, amid tumbling waterfalls and lush natural forests. The lodge is designed to maximise the experience of the special environment, and to ensure that it fully lives up to its motto of "Peace, Privacy, Paradise". Walk along the magical forested trails and hear the curious whistle of the red duiker and the bark of the elusive bushbuck.
Days 12 - 13: Malolotja Reserve
Malolotja Nature Reserve is comprises of 18,000 ha of wilderness with high rolling hills and deep forested river gorges offering a genuine wilderness in which hikers can lose themselves for days. The views in Malolotja are stunning, something like settings described in Tolkeins book 'Lord of the Rings'. Hike the well-marked trails by yourself, using the maps provided, or walk to one of the incredible viewpoints to watch the wildlife. There’s also the chance to participate in the unique Canopy Tour®, the only zip wire in the kingdom. It’s an experience not to be missed!
Day 14: Foresters Arms
The Foresters Arms dates from colonial times and is a place of great character and charm. Foresters Arms has a personal and relaxed feel about it, where time slows down and you can have the opportunity to appreciate the glorious scenery of the surrounding area.
