Product Description:
The Maasai Moran Sculptures are carved from rosewood, an indigenous Kenyan hardwood tree. This wood ensures the high quality of the sculpture and its long-lasting appeal. The artisan usually prefers to carve the kneeling posture since this was a common position for the Maasai warriors. It gave them a wide field of view without attracting attention. It was also considered a resting posture for the young and energetic either on the battlefield or when herding. You will receive one large and one medium size sculpture. There are 3 available designs to choose from which are:
- Old Maasai Man
- Kneeling Maasai Warrior
- Maasai Woman
Large Size: 25W x 62H
Medium Size: 20W x 45H

Brand Partner Bio
I hail from the carving community of Akamba and I was fortunate enough to be born in the village from which the art of woodcarving originated in Kenya. I learned the art of carving as a young man from my fathers, neighbors, uncles, and peers until I mastered it.
Today, I am a master carver of the Maasai warriors or 'Morans' in their various well-known postures, such as the kneeling position. From time to time, I also carve gigantic animals such as rhinos, elephants, and giraffes. I also make wooden bookends, a manifestation of the inclusion of modernity in a traditional setting.
