Product Description:
Beni Ourain style rugs are pile knot rugs intricately designed and are used as two-sided rugs. There is the summer side, when the pile side is placed face down on the ground to keep things cooler. During the winter, the pile side is placed up to keep things warmer. You can find these carpets with natural wool from the local sheep or cotton yarn bought from the village market. Depending on the size of the rug, it can take weeks to create. Each knot needs to be individually tied and cut, so one person is only able to create a meter in two weeks. All rugs are handmade and naturally dyed by members of the Imelghas Women's Cooperative.

Brand Partner Bio
The Imelghas Women's Cooperative can be found in the village of Imghlaus in the Ait Bougamez valley, 190 kilometers from Marrakech. In 2011, the women of Imghlaus wanted to find ways to earn additional money out side of their daily work in the fields. Malika Aajijin, a leader with a eye for design, helped to organize the women to create the cooperative. The women decided that they would only succeed if they all worked together. Therefore, each sale the cooperative makes is distributed evenly amongst its members. While the cooperative focuses on multiple types of carpets, all of them are made from 100% natural wool and dyes.
