Description
Transylvania is a high plateau of rolling hills and deep valleys embraced by the Carpathian Mountains, it is ‘the land beyond the forest’ and still feels one of the less travelled destinations. It is a unique region of fortified churches, walled citadels and fairytale towns. The term often encompasses not only Transylvania proper, but also parts of the historical regions of Crisana and Maramures, and occasionally the Romanian part of Banat. The western world commonly associates Transylvania with vampires, because of the influence of Brams Stoker’s novel Dracula and the many films the tale inspired.
